Dr. Decotiis NYC Weight Loss Expert on Fake #Ozempic & Weight Loss Drugs: Risks & Safety Concerns
Dr. Decotiis NYC Weight Loss Expert on Fake #Ozempic & Weight Loss Drugs/Meds: Risks & Safety Concerns
Ozempic essentially could pose serious health risks. So let's talk about that. More on it with doctor, Sue Decotiis medical weight loss expert here in New York who's here in our studio. So thank you, doctor, for coming in. We appreciate this. How serious how big of a problem because a lot of people either are taking or looking into taking ozempic, I assume, and then they get hit with these fakes. How big a. Risk? This is such a great topic. People really need to know this. I practice in New York City. I see patients in new Jersey, Connecticut, Long Island, really all over the country, and everyone is complaining about scams with these medications, but a lot of them have been involved with these scams before they see me. So you don't know what you're getting. So this is the key. This is what people need to know okay. You don't want to get this medication online. You need to get it through a physician. I mean. That's the first and foremost thing you would think in any medication. Make sure exactly. That it's prescribed for you. And then do you always avoid these kind of scams? Well, I think that if you're getting it from a physician, you're pretty assured that it's going to be okay. Um, so you would either get the commercial product from a physician or you can get a compounded a legitimate compounded product from a physician. And I prescribe tirzepatide, um, which is Mounjaro and zap bound. I also prescribe ozempic, which is semaglutide, also wegovy. So just because it's not ozempic, I'm going to put up the warning from the World Health Organization while we speak about it and then just read about these falsified products. So these falsified products, they say, could have harmful effects to people's health if the products don't have the necessary raw components. Falsified medicines can lead to health complications resulting from unmanaged blood glucose levels of weight. So you're sounds like you're saying there are other options, not just ozempic. There are other real options, but you got to be careful. Correct. So again, when you're dealing with a compounded medication, you want to get it from a physician. If you don't, you don't know what's in it. Yeah. Some of these medications allegedly have had insulin in them that could kill somebody or perhaps sterile water or who knows what else is in it. So it's very, very dangerous. The other thing that you want to know is even if you're using an online app, which is supposedly, you know, one of these things that you average that you see advertised on TV. Some of them are legit, but you're not actually seeing a weight loss physician, and you're getting your care online from someone that's never examined you. And I think the success in my practice is not just prescribing really good compounded products like Tirzepatide and Ozempic, but it's also following patients really carefully. They need to be followed on a body composition scale where we make sure they're not losing muscle. What are the safety concerns? There's one losing muscle that you would have for Ozempic and other drugs that are normally right there, normally relatively safe. Yes, if you're prescribing them. Is that true? True. So but you do have concerns there that people have to be careful of just outside of the scope. So if you're just taking it without getting out of body composition scale, you don't know how it's working. And the number one mistake that people make and my patients out there are rolling their eyes. Here she goes again. Is not drinking enough water. If you're not hydrated, you will burn muscle because the body is afraid to burn fat because fat is so much water. So you're losing water when you're losing weight. If you're drinking the water, then the body will selectively burn the fat and you'll save muscle. So any drug that promotes insulin and these drugs, these GLP one drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro and z-band, they're all promoting the way insulin works in the body. That's why they're such effective fat burners. What about how much they cost? A lot, right? Sometimes I just read something. People paying like 900 bucks a month, is that right? Or is that at. Least maybe. 12, $1,300 per month? So for the. Commercial products. Is that what's leading. To all the scams? I mean, they try to get in and get you something a little bit cheaper.

A lot of companies are getting involved with producing these sorts of drugs, so competition will eventually drive all these prices down. Plus, Victoza is now off patent. That's what happened with the ED drugs, too, which used to be outrageously expensive, but have come down in price since they went generic.

Ouch, did the reporter say sim-EYE gloo-tide? I believe sema in semaglutide probably has reference to the term "week," or 7 days, as in a weekly dose. BTW, the reason Novo Nordisk funded this is because these large corporations are the only ones who can afford to do these large-scale trials. They still have to go through FDA testing and not all drugs survive this testing process. So, I agree with Dr. Decotiis -- there's no reason to deny the objectivity of these trials.

That last comment by the “Dr” surprised me. She has clearly prescribed them to people who need to “lose a few lbs to fit into a dress”. These meds are in short supply and there are people who really need them. Every other doctor who is asked that question says the meds are not for losing a few lbs quickly for an event. This was the first “Dr” to say it was ok.

Coverage is great, but all these GLP-1 / GIP drugs are in severe shortages, as Dr. Decotiis points out. As we're all saying now, RELEASE THE VIALS. Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly are seriously dropping the ball in their supply chains.

It’s so true about the food noise in your head. I feel so free😢. I’m going through a chiropractor who is well versed. She does check body composition. But the fact that I’m not obsessing over food is worth its weight in gold. I’ve only had two shots so far of the compound tirzepitide so far and am very hopeful about losing the 45-50 pounds. No wonder I could only get so far on my own. My brain was constantly working against me. I am a very disciplined person in the other aspects of my life and decided that this must be beyond me since I couldn’t stick to anything food related.

Because they are illegal without a prescription, weightlifters have to buy anabolic steroids from questionable sources. But these GLP-1 / GIP drugs are not illegal, just expensive, as Dr. Sue says. So, as long as the prices are still outrageous, desperate people are going to go to the questionable sources. It's funny how these "woke" corporations pretend to care, but then charge an arm and a leg for their medications.

So we are trying to get people on drug they will depend on for the rest of their lives. This is BS there are natural ways to reduce being insulant resistant and lose weight. People just don’t want to do the work and they want drug to fix what they think they can’t fix themselves. She sure made sure she said diabetes is what they are really treating. Yeah for some. Why don’t you tell people they can purchase a diabetic kit and test their insulin for themselves since you think everyone has this issue and it must be treated with an injection.

Good stuff. However, it really is all about calories in, calories out. The great thing about these GLP-1 / GIP drugs is that they help tip the calorie scale to the deficit side by slowing down digestion and turning on satiety signals in the brain.

@VernCrisler. Such an ignorant comment. You have no idea what people endure with a multitude of factors and illnesses which inhibit metabolic function. Its people like you who are so devoid of common sense and knowledge. Arm yourself with it, you may not make such ignorant statements and embarrass yourself

Obesity is nearly as dangerous in the long run as diabetes if not treated. Unlike diabetes, however, obesity is a temporary condition. Once people reach their target weight, and have learned how to maintain that weight, they won't need to stay on these drugs. Insurance companies would be saving a lot of money in the long run by supporting these drugs for obesity treatment. I reject universal health care or universal government subsidies, but I'm all in favor of targeted government subsidies. The GLP / GIP drugs are a good example. So is CAR-T cancer treatment.

Don't fall for the scare-mongering. High glucose levels and too much weight are worse than any alleged risks of these new GLP-1 and GIP drugs.

I think Sue is a very smart women that cares about holistic treatment that is great. She seems to hesitate to just give you prescriptions, but instead get you vitamins. That is good. But, she doesn't really spend a lot of time trying to figure out what's going on, Instead she just starts to throw you out of the office before you get out what you need to say. She is running a pharmacy business - not a doctor's office. She mostly seems interested in selling her brand of vitamins. I'm taking other very popular vitamins in the health community and she just broke down why hers are better and tried to sell them to me. The first time I came, she left my room so fast I was sure she was coming back, but she never did. I realized I didn't get my questions answered so I went back a second visit. She told me to "HURRY UP."when I was talking. I said I had multiple symptoms. I told her one of them, and she diagnosed me and walked out the room before she heard the others. When I said there was more, she literally ROLLED HER EYES like I wasn't paying her for the visit. I was shocked. Then of course she recommended a ton of her own personal vitamins. And asked me to book separate appointments with her for another day when the Allergist was in. And another appointment for when a dermatologist was in. ALL PEOPLE IN HER OFFICE, so I'm sure she gets kick backs. She doesn't appear to care for people anymore. It appears that she cares more about the money. It's a shame. I left both incidents extremely depressed - mostly because I couldn't believe another human being would treat me like this. I found myself apologizing for coming in for a visit. I prayed for her and all her patients when I got home - I hope she changes back to what she used to be - which I hear was pretty good. On the other hand, If you are just looking for good vitamins to take - she is the best in town though.

I had Liposonix nonsurgical fat reduction treatments at Dr. Sue Decotiis's weight loss center in NYC. The treatment took about an hour. Two months later I am down more than a dress size! It really removes fat and is a true body sculpting fat reduction technique. Simply amazing non-surgical technology. Liposonix really works! Sue Decotiis, MD is a Board Certified Doctor in NYC - the cost was the best in town plus I was medically supervised by a REAL weight loss doctor. Thank you, Dr. Decotiis!!
